Day One

I have survived my first full day in my new hometown, though barely after all I went through.

It started out early, too early since I was still on west coast time. After searching for about an hour for food, Katie and I couldn't find a Starbucks, but got lost in every international area instead. We almost resorted to Chinese breakfast food (what even is that?) before we stumbled across a Barnes and Noble which had food we could pronounce.

After eating we went to my new house, which I put a deposit on without seeing any pictures of, don't ask my why, and sort of broke in so we could see my room.

That afternoon we were driving to Katie's apartment, and had to go through part of down town. We had been relying on my iphone directions the entire afternoon, but since I didn't charge my phone since I don't know where I put my cords, it died. Katie never drives through the city, we have no idea where we are, and just start guessing. A few streets later we were surrounded by literally thousands of people on foot. Apparently the Glen Beck / Sarah Palin rally got out early. I think I've seen enough tacky American shirts to last me a lifetime. We realized too late that we were on the road that goes directly to the Lincoln Memorial, and had to keep driving through the chaos. We loved it though, and seeing this guy's blended Hawaiian/American flag t-shirt really made the entire experience better!
I got some pictures but again with the lost cords, I'll have to put them up in a few days.

Anyway, the day ended with a very long trip to Ikea, jumping on every single bed in the store to test them, a small breakdown by Katie in the pillow section, and pushing around three carts full of too heavy dressers and bookshelves.

Day one is done, and I'm so happy that I'm here!

Yay I like the updates! Ikea is really far away isn't it? We avoided downtown this weekend when I was there too. Glenn Beck is crazy. I can't wait to hear more! I'm so jealous you live there! Its the most beautiful place ever.

I hope you are feeling better being a little more settled. I can't wait to see more pictures. I hope you liked the apartment that you put money down on without seeing. That would make me nervous!

HEY, in my defense...it is a life-changing decision to choose not one...but TWO pillows. Thanks for not mentioning the almost-meltdown in the warehouse :)
