Jaipur

Jaipur!
Joe and I took a bus about 5 hours south of Delhi to Jaipur, the Pink City of India. It is a walled city that was painted pink in 1900 for the welcoming of a British king. We went to a few palaces and got to walk around the markets for two days. It's getting really hot here, probably over 100 every day, so it's exhasting to be outside for long periods of time. We're catching a bus tonight to Agra to see the Taj and meet up with some friends from Shanti Bhavan.

One of the 9 gates into the city, all of them are as decorated as this one, if not more.
The Audience Hall of the king in the Amber Palace has a view of the whole city below. It is one of the most beautiful buildings I've seen in India.

The Amber Palace is set up in these hills to overlook the city below them. It was used from 1100-1600 until it was abandoned for another palace in town. They are really relaxed on rules here so we got to explore the whole thing, secret passageways and all!
